The 7th studio album comes into the world 4 years after the band’s Grammy nominated Feral Roots, with their lead single Nobody Wants To Die which is accompanied by a stunning Quentin Tarantino style video.
The band has also announced that there is an accompanying second album, LIGHTBRINGER, that will be released later this year. Lead guitarist Scott Holiday had this to say about the album,
“It’s a great and accomplished feeling to be able to present to everyone our 8th album: DARKFIGHTER. This is most certainly our most focused and well thought out album. Something I am very proud of on a personal level. From the early writing and recording to the mixing and mastering… and even the artwork… this is something that represents very much where we are and especially how we have grown. We’ve done our best to push the limits on every aspect once again.
This is a new feeling, a new experience to think of DARKFIGHTER being released. This one is a breed apart. The band has never had so much time to create a collection and we’ve certainly never collaborated more deeply on any album in our career. In retrospect, the experience and life lived while writing and recording this one feels dense, like ten years were lived in just those two. Eighth record in I’m thankful we consciously challenged the vocabulary we’ve built together, more for our survival as a band than anything else.”
Even though each member of the now solid lineup had their own separate music careers either as solo acts or with other members of the band, once Rival Sons formed they exploded onto the rock scene in 2011 with their hit single Pressure and Time. The band didn’t stop there, with their 2019 release of Feral Roots the single Do Your Worst shot the band to the globally known, Grammy nominated status. With the upcoming release of the accompanying companion volume, LIGHTBRINGER, the band is sure to reach new heights on their already high summit.
